While this was Ms. Seaton's first novel, she has several awards to her credit, including ForeWord Magazine's Finalist award for Historical Fiction in 2003 for Father's Troubles.

* In 2002 her creative non-fiction essay "On Death and Dying" won First Place in the Reader's Choice Awards at the West Virginia Writers' Conference. The Life Writing Class, a collection of memoir writings, (Publishers Place, 2002) contains this piece.

* Her creative non-fiction work, "Family Values," was one of eighteen pieces from across the southeast accepted for the anthology, Lessons Learned, Volume I.

*Her article "Those Who Came" was awarded the Denny C. Plattner Award for the best non-fiction work to appear in Appalachian Heritage literary journal in 2007.

*She is also a contributor to theWest Virginia Encyclopedia.
